Born in Tangier, Maryam Touzani is one of the leading voices of contemporary Moroccan cinema. She gained international recognition with “Adam”, premiered in Cannes' Un Certain Regard, and consolidated her reputation with “The Blue Caftan”, winner of the FIPRESCI Prize and the first Moroccan film shortlisted for the Academy Award for Best International Feature. A member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and of the Cannes Jury in 2023, she returns with “Calle Málaga”, an intimate third feature that premiered at the Venice Film Festival, where it won the Audience Award.
